If any of you fish frogs, this is for you. I've fished the Stanley Ribbit frogs before with no luck, and this morning I went out with a Spro to Idong lake to fish the vegetation and trees that are in a creek channel. In one hour, I had one fish come up for the frog but I panicked and did an instant hook set and missed the fish. But, when fishing those types of frogs, how do you guys fish them? A constant retrieve? Twitch and stop? Varied retrieve? There are no lily pads in that lake, it's just flooded vegetation and trees, if that helps at all.

I like the twitch and stop method myself....if they miss on the first pop, twitch it a couple of more times and stop...they usaully comeback for a second hit....since you're not fishing on lily pads or on top of grass...try using a trailer hook...and try not to set the hook immediately....

Thanks for the input...the header pic at my blog gives a pretty good idea of what I was fishing this morning www.landinglunkers.com/Lots of trees, reeds and some bushes with some grass under the water. Idong doesn't have a lot of cover so the bass love to hide in or around those trees and bushes. With the water still being high, it's hard to get to the better spots though. Wish I could put a boat in there.

i usually try a few different methods to see how active they are first i start with a constant twitching if nothing rolls on it then ill slow it down to a few uncontrolled and random twitches if no luck there ill slow down even more to one or two twitches around specific peices of cover itf there are still no takers try a shakey head ir flippin jig close to the cover and see if they just want a different bait.... square bill crankbaits have done wonders around stumps and trees.

Thanks...if I get back out to Idong before the water gets too low, I'll give it another shot.
