If I remember right, at least one person on this board has been to Ft Campbell or is from that part of the country. It looks like we'll FINALLY be moving there in the next few months; is it true that there are some nice ponds/lakes on post for fishing? If so, I may be able to keep up my tradition of fishing before work I don't know much about the area, but have heard there's some good fishing in the Cumberland river, Reelfoot lake, and of course Kentucky lake and lake Barkley. I'm really stoked about gettig back into some variety fishing; bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish (yummy), stripers etc...I'm hoping that I can find some good deals on bass boats too because as I told my wife, that's going to be one of the first things I buy

just keep your eyes on craigslist. i keep on looking on that site in the campbell area and find some nice boats all the time, for a good price. it's a high fishing area, so alot of bass fisherman will by a used one, then move on to something bigger. so keep your eye out. the lakes on post are just ok. lake tall and lake kyle. there is some small ponds, but you will need to know someone who knows someone to get to them. for you to fish the ponds on post, you 1st have to have a KY or TN license (about $30 ea), then you can purchase your on post license for about $12 if i remember. wait, there's more... then you have to sign up for that lake the day before (via phone or online), then pick up your pass the morning of (which opens up at 7am if i remember), then you can go to the lake. when you are done, you are suppose to turn in your pass back to the game warden office. so sometimes not worth it!!! dunbar cave pond is a good spring, early summer walking pond to check out. bumpass mills is where i use to go to all the time to drop-in or rent a boat. dyers creek and cross creek are also some go areas to check out. EVERYONE, goes to the locks if you want to catfish. it gets very crowded there. good luck nomad and hope to see you there and do some fishing togething.

Thanks for the info. I paid for the hosting for my blog until next spring so that'll be one sure way to keep in touch after I leave, as I'll be posting my fishing adventures in Tennessee. Plus, I'll keep dropping be here to see how you guys are doing in Korea

I do plan on buying a boat, but not sure how soon after we get there...as long as I get one before spring, all is well. As for report date, I don't have one yet as I just accepted the job offer last Friday but things should start moving along pretty quick. I'm thinking we'll be there sometime in August. I just hope they have some decent BBQ restaurants around there! I do love me some BBQ.

if you ever do some sight seeing, go to chatanooga and get some bbq from "Sticky Fingers". the only bbq joint that i remember in clarksville was "smokey bones". its just ok to me. there was a ma & pa place going towards hopkinsville on the left by a truck stop. use to be called "tom & tammy's". decent bbq. go to backyard burgers if u want a good burger. zaxby's has so damn good chicken fingers. papa murpheys' has good pizza that is made fresh in front of you and you take it home to cook. really good. the best for last... go to Black Horse Tavern. It's a microbrewery that has really good beer & awesome food. order you some beer cheese dip w/ nachos as an app & any pizza. they are all great!!! damn i miss home grandpa's hardware store has a large selection of fishing gear for the area. for haircutt's, right next to grandpa's is curtis barbershop. they will take care of you. we always went to logan's steak house for steak. they have a crack-in-a-box... i mean jack in the box if you like them. hope this gives you an idea what you have available at ft campbell. see you there

Backyard Burgers...I think they had one of those in Ft. Walton Beach when I was at Eglin AFB...is that the place that makes the custom, HUGE burgers? Those things were awesome. LOL, as for haircuts, that won't be a problem since I shave my head anyway . I really appreciate the help and tips...and of course one of my must go to places is the Bass Pro shop outside Nashville!
